Rotarian Isabel Scarinci & Cervical Cancer Elimination Initiative Featured in Rotary Magazine

Rotarian Isabel Scarinci is dedicated to eradicating cervical cancer.

Rotarian Isabel Scarinci, Vice Chair of the Global and Rural Health Program in the UAB Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and her mission to eradicate cervical cancer are the subject of an eight-page feature story in the November issue of Rotary magazine.

The article details the development of Operation Wipe Out, a collaborative effort launched in 2023 by the Alabama Public Health Department, UAB, the Rotary Clubs of Birmingham and LaFayette and others to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health threat.

Scarinci, who is a polio survivor, is proud to lead Alabama as the first state to devise a comprehensive plan for the elimination of the preventable cancer and she aims to help replicate it across the country.
