The Rotary Club of Birmingham welcomed its fourth female president during the first meeting of the 2021-22 year. President Brenda Hackney is President of the Hackney Foundation and the owner of Jefferson Giles, Investments, LLC. She has served on the boards of Alys Stephens Center, Lakeshore Foundation, Mitchell’s Place, St. Vincent’s Foundation, and YWCA of Central Alabama, and is a past board member of The Women’s Fund of Greater Birmingham. She has co-chaired United Way’s Tocqueville Society and served on Samford University's Board of Overseers. She is a graduate of Leadership Birmingham and Leadership Alabama.

Hackney joined RCB in 1998 and has chaired the RCB Foundation and served as RCB VP of Vocational Service and VP of Community Service. She was instrumental in launching the Professional Partners program with Rotaract and in fundraising for RCB's Pre-K initiative, in addition to serving on project selection and fundraising committees for Rotary Trail.

Hackney received B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from Samford University. She is married to fellow Rotarian Morris Hackney and they have two children, Mitchell and Anne Morris.

Hackney addressed the Rotary Club of Birmingham on July 14, 2021 and shared her vision for the year. “Our local theme for our club this year is Give, Gather and Grow,” Hackney said. “We want to grow, not only in membership and diversity, but in our impact on the community and one another. We grow by interacting with the incredible group of leaders this club assembles, by hearing from engaging speakers, by engaging in service, and by giving. When we do those things, our club really does change lives.”
