Rotary Visits Protective Stadium with Guest Speaker Tad Snider
This week members of the Rotary Club of Birmingham enjoyed a spectacular firsthand look at Protective Stadium ahead of the new $200-million-dollar, 45,000-seat, multi-purpose facility's opening to the public on October 2nd.
Guest speaker Tad Snider, Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center Authority Executive Director & CEO, shared his excitement for the BJCC's newest and largest venue as well as a renewed partnership with the UAB Blazers, who will call the stadium home. Snider shared the journey bringing the stadium from inspiration with a trip to Nashville in 2015 to reality despite the challenges of completing the major construction project amidst the global pandemic.
Snider applauded collaborative efforts between the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center Authority, Jefferson County, the City of Birmingham, the Jefferson County Legislative Delegation, and the Birmingham corporate community with architectural firm Populous and construction firm Brasfield & Gorrie. Snider highlighted renovations to Legacy Arena and completion of City Walk BHAM and discussed the potential impact for the area and region as the venues begin hosting large-scale events like The World Games in 2022.
