Rotary Announces New Executive Director
The Rotary Club of Birmingham (RCB) is pleased to announce the selection of veteran nonprofit leader Lora Terry Blalock as its next Executive Director.
A Birmingham native, Blalock has spent her career working in the nonprofit sector. She joined the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham in 2011. In her role as Senior Vice President, Philanthropy and Strategy, she has led a team responsible for asset growth, strategic partnerships, and relationship management at the state’s largest and oldest community foundation. For over a decade she has guided donors and their advisors in philanthropic strategies that align donor values with community need.
Blalock is actively engaged in Birmingham’s civic community, having served on the board and as Past President of the Rotaract Club of Birmingham. She became a member of RCB in 2021 and has served as the club’s VP of New Generations. Blalock serves on the Board of Directors of the EyeSight Foundation of Alabama and is a member of the vestry at St. Mary’s on-the-Highlands Episcopal Church.
“We are excited to see Lora bring the sum of her talents and experience to lead our club with vision, integrity, and effectiveness,” President-Elect Jeff Stone, who led the search, said in an announcement to members during the July 31st club meeting.
Blalock is a graduate of Leadership Birmingham and the Alabama Leadership Initiative. She attended Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., and previously worked at the YWCA Central Alabama. She and her husband Frank have two small children, Frank and Betsy.
“The Rotary Club of Birmingham has been a key part of our city’s civic infrastructure for over 110 years,” Blalock said. “I am honored to work alongside the club membership to continue and grow Rotary’s impact in Birmingham.”
Blalock will begin serving in her new role on August 15th.
