During the August 18th Rotary Club of Birmingham meeting, Past District Governor Lee Weinman presented the Rotary District 6860 Outstanding Leadership Award to Rotarian Jeris Gaston. The award recognizes a person who has done exemplary work for the district and for Rotary.

“In 2019, I knew that Rotary International was putting together a series of Public Service Announcements (PSAs) to be broadcast around the United States,” said Weinman. “Because of the wide distribution, these PSAs had to be very generic. I wanted to do something specific to District 6860. However, I had to find someone who bought into the idea and would take the initiative and responsibility and get it done. And that was Jeris. I first pitched the idea to her in San Diego at the International Assembly (of DGEs) during January 2020.

Working in conjunction with The University of Alabama College of Communication and Information Sciences, Jeris has produced one PSA that is being broadcast, has another in post-production, and a third in mid-production. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for Rotary, this district, and your club.”

In addition to her service this year as Rotary District 6860 Membership Director Rotaract and Vice Chair of the Rotary International Membership Committee, Gaston is RCB VP of Communications. She worked with President Brenda Hackney to start the Professional Partners program with Rotaract in 2009.

“Jeris, we are grateful for the work that you do within this club and the way you represent us at the district, national and international levels,” said Hackney.

Gaston is a Partner with Bridgeworth Wealth Management and has been a member of RCB since 2018. She previously served as RCB VP of New Generations, is an honorary member of the Dublin Central Rotary, a past president of the Rotaract Club of Birmingham and served as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar.
