RCB Sponsors 6 High School Students to Attend Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Program

RYLA participants Jaylynn Wilson, Naomi Jones, Christen Hearn and Olivia Harrington

The Rotary Club of Birmingham sponsored six students to attend the 2023 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program held in February at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville. RYLA is an intensive leadership training program for high school students sponsored by Rotary International, and conducted by local Rotary Districts. The three-day program consists of lectures and discussions with skilled and prominent leaders, group and team building activities, leadership training, fellowship, and a Mini Space Camp experience.

Those selected to participate include Homewood High School student Naomi Jones, Ramsay IB High School student Jaylynn Wilson, Ramsay High School student Olivia Harrington and Alabama Aerospace and Aviation High School students Christen Hearn, Paul Davis and Finn Payne.

Several of the students attended the May 10th RCB meeting to share their experiences.

Thanks to Rotarians Lora Blalock, Rich Campbell and Mike Mahon for serving on the RYLA selection committee.
