RCB Kicks Off New Rotary Reads Pre-K Learning Program

Rotarian Kennon Walthall reads to students at Barrett Elementary School

The Rotary Club of Birmingham has been committed to supporting preschool learning in Birmingham City Schools for over 20 years through our Preschool Learning Initiative, a partnership with United Way's SuccessBySix. RCB has invested over $1 million to date, with a major focus on reading readiness.

RCB recently kicked off the new Rotary Reads program with Rotarians visiting preschool classrooms to read to students at Barrett, Glen Iris, Oliver and Richard Arrington Jr. Elementary Schools. Over the course of the school year, RCB volunteers will visit all 49 Pre-K classrooms in the 18 BCS elementary schools.
