Alabama Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Reed Addresses Rotary

RCB VP of Programs Danny McKinney and RCB President Chuck Redden with Sen. Greg Reed.

The Rotary Club of Birmingham recently welcomed Alabama Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Reed as its featured speaker. Sen. Reed shared the legislature’s 2022 accomplishments, including increased pay for teachers and funding for schools, tax breaks for state residents, broadband internet expansion, improvements to roads, prisons and the Port of Mobile.

“We get along well, Republicans and Democrats working together on things that matter in Alabama,” Sen. Reed said. “We do well in working together for the benefit of the people of Alabama on things that matter to you and matter to the five million Alabamians that are expecting us to do the right thing.”

Sen. Reed discussed the Innovation Commission’s report highlighting Alabama’s high-tech ecosystem opportunities in industries such as aerospace, aviation, automotive, steel, biotechnology, medicine, science and research. He underscored the attributes that draw people and keep them in the state such as good business opportunities, strong communities where individuals can give back, and outstanding outdoor recreation. He also applauded the Birmingham community for being so welcoming during The World Games 2022 and showcasing the best of what Alabama has to offer.

“If we want Alabama to be everything that she can be, she’s got to grow in Fayette County just like Jefferson County. She’s got to grow in Limestone County just like Madison County. She’s got to grow in Washington County just like Baldwin County,” Sen. Reed said.
