Rotarians Represent RCB at 2022 Rotary International Convention
Several Rotarians represented RCB at the 2022 Rotary International Convention, held June 4-8 in Houston, Texas. This was the first opportunity for Rotarians from around the world to gather in person since 2019 to learn from one another, engage in fellowship and build relationships rooted in the ideal of service above self. This year’s theme was Discover New Horizons.
RCB resumed our tradition of hosting a reception for friends and RI leaders from around the world. In attendance were several RI past presidents, including honorary RCB member Ravi Ravindran, President-elect Jennifer Jones, President-Elect-Elect Gordon R. McInally, Rotary General Secretary and CEO John Hewko, RI Board of Directors members, Rotary Foundation trustees, Pubudu De Zoysa and other friends from Sri Lanka, as well as guests from other clubs in District 6860.
RCB VP of Communications Jeris Gaston led a breakout session on increasing Rotary membership through professional development and family integration. She also led a panel discussion on partnering with Rotaractors to position Rotary for a future that is innovative, inclusive, and adaptable to changing times with Rotarian and Rotaractor panelists from the Philippines, Honduras and Germany.
RCB VP of International Service Margi Ingram, Executive Director Dan Stephens, and Assistant District Governor Derek Conrad Brown staffed a booth in the House of Friendship promoting the 2023 International Peace Conference that will be held in Birmingham and co-sponsored by District 6860.
Rotaract Club of Birmingham President Cameron Shevlin and President-Elect Jessica Poor led a presentation during the Rotaract Preconvention session.
