Rotarian Emmett McLean Shares the Mission of the United Way of Central Alabama

Past President Eric Jack with Rotarians Nancy Goedecke and Emmett McLean.

This week the Rotary Club of Birmingham welcomed Emmett McLean, Medical Properties Trust, Inc. Executive Vice President & COO and United Way of Central Alabama 2022 Campaign Chair.

McLean highlighted the wide array of programs and services supported by UWCA to improve local communities through focus on health, education and financial stability. He discussed how the organization adapted over the past two years to meet the needs of individuals and partner agencies that faced additional challenges during the pandemic.

McLean recognized RCB members who have played integral roles with UWCA over its 99-year history, including Tocqueville Society members, those who have served on the board of directors, cabinet and committees of the UWCA and its nearly 200 partner agencies, members of visiting allocation teams, volunteers, donors and employees. He also applauded the 66 RCB members who have chaired 67 successful annual campaigns over the past century.

“This year the theme for United Way is ‘United Starts with You,’” McLean said. “People make things happen in any community, in any organization. Each of you have made a powerful impact on the lives of those that United Way serves. Thank you very much.”
