BLOX CEO Chris Giattina Deconstructs Healthcare Construction
On April 24, 2024, the Rotary Club of Birmingham (RCB) welcomed Chris Giattina, BLOX CEO. He presented a talk entitled Building Deconstructed: How a startup from Bessemer is Changing Healthcare Construction in the U.S “
Giattina provided an overview of the evolving landscape of the construction industry, where the combination of inflation, increasing materials costs and rising wages have outpaced CPI. He identified the success of BLOX lying in the ability to develop strategies that allow the firm to keep costs low so that companies are able to pursue projects within the margin where they will see a successful return on investment. Giattina said BLOX’s Design-Manufacture-Construct process allows the components of building projects to be assembled away from the building site, increasing productivity and decreasing the on-site variables that extend timelines and cause costs to climb.
“We have been extremely disciplined at developing a DMC production system that is transferable and scalable, and it is very much a part of how you make a great building as a product.”
He discussed a vision that includes building projects designed and customized online using artificial intelligence tools to optimize results.
“We are going to make beautiful, excellent things. That’s our vision. It takes an army to do it. It takes a leap of faith. It takes a bit of craziness.”
